Top Fives: Hottest 100 #100s

Looking back at the history of Triple J's Hottest 100, a number of songs/artists are missing from the lists, when one would have expected them to make it at some stage (the likely subject of a future Top Five, and an excuse to link to more music of The Drones). It's worth celebrating then, those songs which have just cracked the list, placing at number 100. Some of these songs have been corkers, others not so much ("Neutron Star Collision", I'm looking in your direction).

In any event, here's a top five - songs that have placed at #100 in the annual hottest 100 countdowns.

Top Fives: Overlooked Foo Fighters tracks

With Faster Louder recently posting an article about Foo Fighters "performing as a covers band" after performing a "greatest hits" setlist, it got me to thinking about some of the songs that they've done over the years which seem to have dropped from popular consciousness (or at the very least, weren't big enough to warrant inclusion on their Greatest Hits album. Most of these were quite popular at the time

Top Fives: Songs using a refrain of "Yeah"

With Violent Soho getting some press at the moment due to "Covered in Chrome" being censored in the United States due to the presence of "Hell fuck yeah" in the lyrics, it seems appropriate to pay tribute to that, and other songs (mostly within  the grunge genre), that make use of the simple refrain of "yeah".

Top Fives - Songs halfway through 2014

Now that the calendar has flipped over to July, there's a number of articles (such as Rolling Stone and Pop Crush, awaiting the inevitable list from Faster Louder) out there putting forth the best songs of the year to date. For mine, there hasn't been as much that have grabbed attention thus far, but these five represent my pick at this point in time.
